Cabore seals Sheikh Jassim Cup triumph for Al Arabi

Sunday, September 19, 2010 5:24:00 PM

Brazilian striker Cabore’s late winner saw Al Arabi seal the Sheikh Jassim Cup for the fifth time in the club’s history as the 1995 Asian Club Championship finalists defeated Lekhwiya 1-0 on Monday.

The 30-year-old, formally known as Everaldo de Jesus Pereira, netted the only goal of the game at Doha Stadium with five minutes left on the clock to give Al Arabi their second Sheikh Jassem Cup triumph in three seasons, following their 3-0 win over Al Rayyan in the 2008/09 final.

Cabore (pictured)  was Al Arabi’s key player in the last edition of the Qatar Stars League as the former Gyeongnam and FC Tokyo forward scored 21 times to finish joint top scorer with Iraq’s 2007 AFC Asian Cup-winning captain Younis Mahmoud, who plies his trade with 2010 AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Al Gharafa.
