MANILA, Philippines - The recent drug scandal involving Big Bang leader G-Dragon has seemingly affected YG Entertainment’s business as it decided to postpone its plan to go public to raise capital.

In a disclosure filed with Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), YG Entertainment said its scheduled listing with the Korea Exchange and selling of initial public offering (IPO) has been postponed from Oct. 12 to 13 to Nov. 14 and 15, according to Korean media.

In addition, YG Entertainment said the prices of 1.25 million shares it would sell would be lowered from 24,600 won to 32,000 won to 22,100 won to 28,800 won, a decrease of 10 percent.

The agency’s decision was a result of the scandals that involved G-Dragon and Daesung this year.

G-Dragon tested positive for marijuana use but prosecutors decided not to charge him after the results showed only a little amount of the illegal drug in his body.

YG Entertainment said G-Dragon accepted a cigarette from an individual during a party in Japan in May not knowing that it was marijuana. The singer only took a few puffs and threw it away.

On the other hand, Daesung was involved in a car accident in May where a motorcyclist died. The case became sensational and forced Daesung to stop his activities with Big Bang. After a reinvestigation, prosecutors eventually cleared him of any liability in the case.

YG Entertainment said Daesung and G-Dragon’s scandals can serve as constraints to the Big Bang’s activities and affect operating results.

Daesung will be returning to the K-pop scene in December at the YG Family Concert. YG Entertainment, however, said it has not yet determined when G-Dragon will be coming back due to the marijuana incident.
