Print is the most respected magazine about graphic communication and visual culture in America. Since 2005, we have won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence three times (2005, 2007, 2008). Sophisticated and sharp, lush and insightful, Print is authoritative inspiration for every designer who wants to get to the top.

"There is a reason Print keeps getting cited for general excellence. It is generally excellent."
-The Washington Post

Every issue, our contributors provide brilliant commentary in the following columns:
  • Expert designers?from John Maeda to George Lois?weigh in on the past, present, and future of visual culture.
  • Design critic Rick Poynor offers canny perspective on crucial issues and designers’ relevance to these issues around the world.
  • Writer, critic, educator, and art director Steven Heller interviews newsworthy figures, examining cutting-edge developments in design, illustration, education, advertising, animation, film, and popular culture.
  • Editor emeritus Martin Fox combs Print’s archives for fascinating tidbits that are still relevant today. How did the worlds of design, illustration, photography, and advertising look back when?
  • Sustainability journalist Jeremy Lehrer asks top designers how they’re changing to reflect the new green reality. It’s not easy going green?or is it?
  • Leading critics lend insightful book reviews from every exciting corner of visual communication, representing a wide range of art, commercial, and independent publishers.

Every year, we produce competitions that showcase the best work in the world.

REGIONAL DESIGN ANNUAL (DECEMBER)
The Regional Design Annual is the most comprehensive survey of graphic design in the United States?and one of the biggest magazine issues to hit the graphic design industry every year. It's the only design competition organized by region of the country, from New York City to San Diego, Miami to Seattle. It's more than a magazine: It’s a reference volume the best designers rely on.

NEW VISUAL ARTISTS (APRIL)
The New Visual Artists Review introduces and profiles 20 of the most promising rising talents in graphic design, advertising, illustration, digital media, photography, and animation?all under the age of 30. Every year, the issue attracts an astounding response and offers annual well-earned exposure and recognition to a select group of young artists doing innovative work.

CREATIVITY + COMMERCE: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS GRAPHICS (OCTOBER)
This highly selective competition highlights outstanding print and interactive design from around the world. Print now also honors entries that demonstrate excellence in sustainability practices.

I have been a subscriber of the package deal with Print/HOW for months now. I have so far received only one issue total between the two subscriptions (of Print) outside of the Regional annual and I also just received an "expiration notice" in the mail saying my subscription is up... even though my account is less than six months old. Oh, and did I mention that I only received one issue so far. Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here, but the outlook is not good. If I had to choose between How and Print I would choose Print because I at least got one issue for the $40, but throw in Comm Arts as an option and I'll take that any day.
