The land plot allotted for the project is located on the left bank of Ishim river, between Kabanbay Batyr Av. and Sary-Arka Str. At present the works on installation of the roof of a sliding house-top are conducted, time for completion of civil work is planned for May, 2009. It is planned to hold the official Opening Ceremony of the 7th Winter Asian Games in 2011. The facility of such a scale is constructed in Kazakhstan for the first time. The unique feature is that that the roof is sliding. The capacity of the Stadium is 30 thousand seats.

Indoor Speed Skating Stadium

The stadium is located on the left bank of Ishim river, on Kabanbay Batyr avenue near the Football Stadium.
The facility is designed for speed skating, short track speed skating, ice hockey (2 fields), curling, figure skating. The complex is composed of a large-span construction of the main Skating Stadium and cone building of hotel, fitness center and administrative office.

Kazakhstan Sport Palace

During the Games Kazakhstan Sport Palace will be used for ice hockey competitions. The Sport Palace was commissioned in 2001.
It is planned to reconstruct the building, in addition there will be built an ice rink for figure skaters training.
The capacity of tribunes is 4,050 seats.

Republican Cycle Track

The Republican Cycle Track with the value KZT 10 billion will be ready for the start of the Asian Games. The unique shape of the facility draws attention. The cycle track build in the shape of cyclist’s helmet is recognized as a most unique sport facility. The 20 thousand square meters accommodate valleyball, basketball, football grounds, several swimming pools and fitness centers. The capacity is 8 000 seats. The new facility also includes cycling center, hotel, studying and recreation centers. Right after commissioning test competitions will be held to assess the preparedness of the facility for the Games. At present the facility is ready 95%. Other than sport events the Republican Cycle Track is a good venue for concerts, conferences and other mass gatherings. The Cycle Track will be reequipped into a and ice arena for the Asian Games 2011 competitions in short track speed skating and figure skating.

Baluan Sholak Sport and Culture Palace

This facility will be used for competitions in ice hockey (women). Reconstruction of the Sport and Culture Palace to conduct competitions of Winter Asian Games in 2011 will allow not only a major sports and cultural events, but also will offer more space for sports, physical education and recreation. Once reconstructed the total capacity of the Palace will be 5,000 people. 1,000 seats more will be set up as well.
It is planed to replace all engineering and technical communications, expand the area of support facilities; there will be locker rooms, health-recreation complex, rooms for rest, a press center, commentators rooms. There will be installed an electronic scoreboard of the latest update. Also there will be parking available for 850 cars.

Medeu Alpine Ice Arena

Medeu plays a crucial role for the Asian Games. It is planned to hold competitions in bandy - hockey with ball.
The large-scale reconstruction project of the world-famous high-mountainous roller includes several steps. First of all the entire old machine room will be replaced which is about 3300 square meters of idle land. After it is reconstructed the complex will have enough premises for different sport events such as boxing, fighting, basketball, minifootball, as well as gyms and rock climbing. Recreation rooms for athletes also will be repaired - they will be brought to the level meeting all the requirements and their total number will be increased from 130 to 150. Seats for spectators on the platform will be completely replaced with new ones, platforms will be moistureproof.

Engineering systems of complex systems will be completely replaced - heating, ventilation, water supply and sewerage, electricity. And to comply with the international standards the existing technological systems will be added the lighting system of the ice arena, television systems, security systems and video surveillance, electronic scoreboard, photofinish system and jury system, system of time, system sound of ice events, the device of ice. The ice field also will be changed. It will be fully prepared to conduct training sessions and sporting events of regional and international level in sports such as speed skating, Canadian hockey, curling, figure skating and hockey. In addition, the field will be operated in the modes of mass skiing and cultural events with the use of ice cover in the coldest period of the year and the additional coating in warm weather.

International Ski Jump Complex

The project includes 5 ski jumps: world-class K-125, K-95 and child-training K-60, K-40, K-20. Also will be built the stadium, media center, a school for training young jumpers, gym, 25-meter long covered pool with six lanes, ropeway, road interchange, providing access to the platform, starting and finish line, surface and underground parking for 200 places. Planned complex is located in the southern part of Almaty, to the west from Yessentay, to the south from Al-Farabi av. The area of the site for the construction - 15.1377 hectares.

Multifunctional building with stands is designed for 5500 spectator seats. In addition, on the western slope of foothill planned terrace for 4000 standing places. Media Center-designed in four-stored building and is located in the stands at their north-west side. This building - dominant of the complex. Adaptive-training center has 75 double rooms. The Center is located near the ski jumps training. For the convenience of beginners athletes to the start tower used lift that turn increases the number of jumps per day. Near the Center to be placed a sport hall, which will train young athletes, as well as gym, fitness room and swimming pool.
In the future, after the Winter Asian Games, the complex can be used as a sports and cultural entertainment, with the possibility of holding concerts at the stadium and various show-programs.

Shymbulak Alpine Ice Resort

Shymbulak Alpine Ice Resort will be the venue of the competitions in alpine skiing and freestyle skiing.
The reconstruction project deadline is autumn 2010. The total length of the tracks has doubled. The most crowded part of the skating area was increased 10-20 times. The ski tracks fully comply with all the standards of the International Federation of ski sports FIS. In the future it is planned to extend the tracks up to the glacier Karlytau. After that, by the length of the tracks, Shymbulak will be as good as the world’s leading ski resorts. There also will be reconstructed hotel, built spa center, restaurants. There will be modern time systems, information boards required for the competition worldwide. There will be opened an international school of mountain skiing and snowboarding, and an underground parking for 2000 cars and the modern 4,5 km long cable-way from Medeo to Shymbulak will be built. All work will be completed by the beginning of the Games.

Biathlon and Cross-Country Ski Complex

The complex is designed to hold competitions in biathlon, skiing and ski orienteering. The Biathlon and Cross-Country Ski Complex in Soldatskoye Gorge of Talgar district of Almaty region is an autonomous system with its own infrastructure needed for the Winter Asian Games, which in future can be used for the World Cup and Winter Olympic Games.

Sketch master plan of the complex completed by Hermud Borkestol Norwegian expert of FIS in conjunction with the consulting firm J De Heer Consulting and adopted as the basis for developing a working draft. Includes the location of the major stationary buildings, sites for temporary facilities, drawing of lines, location of fire zones and start / finish zones. Planning of stadiums is made in such a way as to take into account all the requirements of international organizations, (FIS, IBU, etc.) to the transport system.

Trails for biathlon are designed for the following competitions: the individual race, sprint, mass start, persecution race, relay. The maximum length of trail is 4 km. The main facilities are tribune buildings of the ski and biathlon stadiums. Tribune of each stadium is designed for a capacity of over 3000 people (1300 and 1800 standing places of tables).

In the interim periods between competitions the stadium could serve several functions: training professional athletes, training junior staff (sports camps for children), the promotion of sports among the population by involving everyone who wants to organize a family recreation.

The uniqueness of the complex is that it can operate at any time of year, in its being suitable for holding competitions of international level; it can train professional athletes and can be visited by all wishers.
