WHAT IS DOST?

DOST is a not for profit private organization which has tax exempt status under 501(C3). The organization has been in existence since 1998 and has striven to help children, elderly and the needy in Crimea. As an organization, we also help and donate to the American Red Cross, Unicef and to St. Judes Cancer research.

DOST was started to help the people of Crimea who were oppressed under the former Communist regime. Crimea has a rich history spanning over centuries until World War II. The Crimean history during World War II was almost vanquished as the Soviets and their ideology of Communism spread. The Crimean people were against the ideology of Communism and Stalin who as the head of the Communist party, ordered the KGB ,which were agents of the Communist, to deport the Crimean people. Men, women and children were deported from their homeland to distant areas in former U.S.S.R, mainly Uzbekistan, in cattle cars with no food, medicine, or clothes. The majority of the people - elderly and youngest children, died in the cattle cars en route to Uzbekistan and various other regions in the former U.S.S.R. No homeland and living in uncertainty, the Crimean people never forgot their homeland. Under Perestroika and President Gorbachev's government in the former U.S.S.R, Crimean people were again allowed to return to their homeland in Crimea, almost 45 years after being forcibly deported.

The return to Crimea has not been easy. Reason being is that majority of people returning to their homeland left their jobs, and homes in Uzbekistan and other various regions. No jobs, homes, adequate education, medicine and food, the people in Crimea have not given up hope to once again live with dignity in the land of their ancestors

That is why DOST was formed - to challenge the hardships of the Crimean people and help in any way possible.

Our main projects are Sponsor a Child In Education, Help Poor Families, Help the Elderly, Orphan Sponsorship, and Helping Sick Children

Lastly, every year we have an annual gala Fundraising Event. All proceeds go to our projects based on sponsor preferences.. This is usually when new sponsors are enlisted as well as collect funds towards the various projects without any commitments. We hope that you will join us and show us your support so that we can continue our commitment to help people in need. Click her for more details about our Fundraiser.
