Rick Ross Copyright Suit Dismissed

Thursday Nov 4 2:30 PM CDT posted by xxl staff

Rapper Rick Ross won’t have to shell out any of his earnings to former drug ring leader “Freeway” Ricky Ross.

Earlier this week, a federal judge in Los Angeles rejected the $10 million lawsuit that had been filed in June by the real Ross, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Seeking compensation for trademark violations, unfair competition and misappropriation of his publicity rights, the suit was filed against the Miami rapper (real name William Roberts II), Jay-Z, Def Jam, Universal Music Group and others.

The judge ruled that the “Freeway” could not win on the trademark infringement claim or the grounds of unfair competition because he was unable to show valid trademark rights to his name.

The real Rick Ross will have the opportunity to file an appeal to the decision if he chooses. ? Adam Fleischer

I remember when I intially wrote that the “original Rick Ross” would lose this case…. Many cats hated on me and a lot of arm chair quarterbacking commenced. But I knew dude would take an “L”. Once you are locked up, you become “Notorious”. Meaning, there are a million people that know who you are and have ample opportunity to capitalize off of your name. And seeing as how the “Orignal Rick Ross” did more damage to his own name than any other person could have, they had to toss it. Common sense. You’d be surprised how many times the Patent Office has to deal with this type of complaint. It holds no merit.

I guess that creative is the substitution for real. This dismissal is bullshit. Rozay owes Rick Ross for stealing his name inorder to make profit off the cocaine laced fiction music. How real is he?
