About Curious and Unusual Deaths
A fatal phone call? Killer carrot juice? A deadly sneeze? Strange but true, these are CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL DEATHS . Premiering Fri., March 16 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT with back-to-back half-hour episodes, this 13-part series explores - and explains - the world's strangest, weirdest or simply avoidable deaths. A fatal fastball, murder by microwave, killer kites and more are transformed from bizarre mystery into explainable fact in Season 2 of this original Canadian series. Dramatic recreations, CGI sequences and expert scientific analysis breathe life into these tragic tales of death.

Each episode features three stories, grouped by theme. The season premiere of CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL DEATHS , "Death By Sport" opens with a 1920s baseball game. In "Batter Up, Batter Down," Ray Chapman played shortstop for the Cleveland Naps, facing off against pitcher Carl Mays. Mays' unique submarine delivery combined with a scuff-ball, created a pitch whose path was impossible to predict. Chapman didn't even duck as the ball struck him on the head, causing his death. Then, in "Tide Up, Pinned Down," meet an angler who, after a long day, decided to catch a quick nap underneath his truck before fishing into the night. But his truck was parked on the beach and the full moon caused higher than average tides. His truck sank in the sand, trapping him underneath it, unable to escape the rising water. And finally, in "Game, Set, Death!" tennis superstar Vitas Gerulaitis decided to take a nap in the pool house after spending the day giving tips to corporate donors. But when an improperly vented pool heater filled his bedroom with carbon monoxide five-times the lethal limit, the tennis star's nap turned into the sleep of the dead.
