This is a great help in schools, though teachers don't like wikipedia as a source because, Most of the time the informations is correct, there is some false information.

Ce site est une très bonne initiative! Bien que ça ne soit pas une encyclopédie officielle, c'est une excellente façon de conserver le savoir! Donner la chance aux gens de pouvoir y apporter des modifications est très bon aussi même si ça peut aussi amener de la fausse information!

Wikipedia is an excellent first source of information, BUT what it says should be treated with caution.
The unpaid volunteers who have built this remarkable body of information have in general done a great job.
Like anything that becomes well known there are things to watch out for. In controversial areas "editing wars" occur where opposing sides attempt to slant the content to suit themselves. Watch out for these and if you find one, use your common sense to find other information.
The original "rules" developed for editors have been taken too seriously by some of those who appear to spend much of their lives editing it. Some of them individually make more than a thousand edits a month. That amounts to more than 30 edits a day!! These "professional editors" contribute a disproportionate amount of the content.
Some of them have the unpleasant habit of destroying contributions not made by the "inner cabal" and defacing pages with messages (saying like 'page not good enough') instead of just fixing the page.

Wikipedia has great tools for looking into the past. Today I was looking at an article started several years ago. I compared the original version (from February 2007) with the present one (January 2010). Over 3 years the article actually had less facts than were originally present.
Very useful BUT be careful. If you find a page that looks suspicious, to you, research further.

Until this site came to existence dark internet was as in dark ‘medieval’ age. And for those who needed information for their studies or professional work, they had to spend hours looking for free reliable information.
It was disorganized and hard to find. It was so inconvenient to have to go to the library every time I needed to get an answer from a good source.
But right now everything has changed, thanks to wikipedia. It has so much free and useful information that is organized and quite trustworthy. And most importantly it has a whole list of useful links that really help to study the subject in depth.
I love wikipedia for its noncommercial nature, no spam and tons of great, well delivered information!
Thanks to wikipedia I don’t have to worry about every appearing unprofessional in my dietology and nutrition field.
