Due to the rise of building material
cost and inflation the scheme was stopped in 1988.

DHSHD introduced Single
Family Housing Scheme in 1974 for people who already owned
residential land.

The program was handed over the public
works after 1980 and the scheme was targeted only for
higher level officials.

Recently, DHSHD revitalize the individual
housing schemetargeting the middle income group at the
new development area
|
|

Occasionally
practiced in and around Yangon
: new town extension,
squatter resettlement, fire victim resettlement and upgrading
project.

development cost – subsidized by the Government.

(1989-1994) - Large Scale
Schemes
Developed 160000 plots for about 400000 persons in three new
settlements in the east, west and north of Yangon.
200000 squatter populations were provided with leased plots
of land with basic infrastructure.
(1995-1996) – developed 93050 plots.
(1999-2000) – allocated 88180 plots to senior government
employee.
(2001- 2004) – Focus on the slum upgrading and low cost
housing project
