January 15: Lateefah Simon

Lateefah Simon dedicates her life to community leadership, and has spoken about civil rights issues in front of both the U.S. Senate and the United Nations. Growing up in the projects, she overcame incredible obstacles and only 10 years later became the youngest woman ever to win the MacArthur Fellowship. She is currently the executive director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.
