Marc Anthony apparently prefers singing to talking.

Call him evasive or stubborn – but before performing for the crowds on Tuesday morning's Today show, Anthony stood his ground and staunchly refused to confirm whether he's married to Jennifer Lopez.

The showdown, in the plaza of New York's Rockefeller Center, began with Today anchor Matt Lauer asking the 35-year-old Latin crooner how he'd spent his weekend.

"I see where you're going with this, and I'm going to preface it with just saying – y'all know I don't talk about my personal life," Anthony said.

Lauer replied: "So, I – do I need to congratulate you?"

"Yeah, I have two albums coming out, man. Absolutely. And I would appreciate it," the singer said.

Sharp-eyed TV watchers, however, could detect what appeared to be a silver wedding band on Anthony's left hand and a pendant around his neck. The round charm read, "Jennifer."

As Lauer pressed the matter, such as asking if a wedding had taken place Saturday at Lopez's home in Beverly Hills, Anthony responded, "That would fall into the category of personal. And that's where I'm going to leave it."

Later on Today, weatherman Al Roker chided Lauer over the lack of news he had gleaned. "Yeah," said Lauer, "this used to be an information show."

An hour later, on ABC, Anthony continued to duck the big question to the five women – including super-sleuth Barbara Walters – on The View.

"I've always been just so private, and I've kept what's mine, mine," Anthony said.

"It's still hard for me to understand, what is to me, the morbid fascination with celebrity," he added. "I just want to sing, I want to work on my music, I want to make my movies, that's all I want to do. I understand, you know, the interest but I really don't understand the fascination with it."

Anthony – who only last week finalized his divorce from his wife of four years, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres – said no matter what is said of him and Lopez, he plans to "let it go. I have nothing to say about anything. My life is my life, that's the only thing I have."
