The 2009 Pitchfork Readers Poll!

Your chance to tell us what you think. The 2009 Pitchfork Readers Poll!

Another year in music is coming to a close, and throughout December we'll be trying to put it all into perspective, revealing our favorite albums, tracks, videos, and much more. And after spending the year sharing our opinions with you, we'd like to hear yours-- which records and songs did you most love this year? Who was the best live act you saw? Which album did your friends inexplicably overrate, and which one should they have been listening to instead? This is your chance to tell us: Our 2009 Readers Poll covers all of that and much more.

While we're asking for your opinions, taking a few minutes to tell us a bit about yourself would be much appreciated.

Check back on January 4, 2010 for the results. Thanks in advance for participating-- and thanks for reading.

New Pitchfork.tv Show: "Surveillance"

Performance series uses security cameras to capture bands live. New Pitchfork.tv Show: "Surveillance"

Our brand new performance series on Pitchfork.tv gives viewers a voyeuristic peek at bands performing live, through the all-seeing lenses of surveillance cameras. Filtered through a vintage security monitor, the show's footage is candid and just a little bit eerie.

"Surveillance" kicks off today with a track from veteran hard rockers the Melvins , filmed in a crummy hotel room at this year's ATP New York Festival . More security-cam goodness from ATP is set to roll out over the next couple weeks, featuring the Dirty Three with Nick Cave, Atlas Sound, the Feelies, and El-P, along with a one-time-only collaboration between No Age's Randy Randall, Atlas Sound's Bradford Cox, and director Jim Jarmusch. A "Surveillance" set from the xx will follow early next year.

Watch the Melvins play "The Kicking Machine" for our "Surveillance" cameras and check out the show's upcoming schedule below:
