Three months after the quiet release of Archives Volume One Neil Young has announced his next archival release: Dreamin’ Man , a complete live performance of Harvest Moon drawn from various solo acoustic gigs in 1992. The disc is labeled Neil Young Archive Performance Series #12 and is due in stores November 2nd. Before the release of the first box set Young released three late 1960s/early 1970s concert discs that later appeared in the package. It’s unclear why he’s jumping forward to number twelve for the next release. Might box set three or four be the next set slated for release? Young never explicitly said the box sets would come out in sequential order, though that would be an odd move ? even for him.
Besides Dreamin’ Man , Young’s schedule is pretty open. On September 12th he’s playing a benefit concert for the Sarah McLachlan foundation in Vancouver with Sheryl Crow and McLachlan. Two days later Neil Young Trunk Show - a Jonathan Demme directed documentary of a 2007 Philadelphia concert ? premiers at the Toronto Film Festival. In October he’s performing at the annual Farm Aid and Bridge School Benefit concerts, but beyond that his plans are unknown. He hasn’t played a single gig with Crazy Horse since March of 2004 ? the longest break he’s ever had from the garage band since they teamed up in 1968. Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina’s unexplained departure midway through Young’s 2008 tour may not bode well for future projects, but hopefully Neil’s going to let the horse out of the barn again soon. The world needs it.

I love Neil, but I think we may be in danger of Neil Young overload. Doesn’t the guy ever take a break? Perhaps after his aneuryism scare his fear of death has escalated and he may think he has to get everything out before it’s too late. Still, too much Neil young is far better than none.
