That's Greg Ostertag. Yes, he retired three years ago but he is 7-2 and making noises like he might want one more shot. Here's the scoop:

Mavs could match Cavs' offer for Shaq

The big buzz in the trade rumor mill is that Shaq could be headed to Cleveland soon.

The proposed deal is a pure salary dump from the Suns' perspective: Shaq for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic.

From ESPN.com :

O'Neal, 37, will make $20 million next season in the final year of his current deal, while Wallace will make $14 million in the last year of his contract and Pavlovic $4.9 million with only $1.5 million guaranteed.

The salary swap is close enough to make the trade work under the salary-cap guidelines, and the Suns would save $10 million in the transaction -- $4.5 million in salary and $5.5 million in luxury-tax payments.

Erick Dampier ($12 million) and Jerry Stackhouse ($7 million) would also work in a swap for Shaq. And Stack is only guaranteed $2 million, so the Suns would get even more savings if they make a deal with the Mavs (unless Ben Wallace is willing to take a buyout).

However, I believe Mark Cuban was actually being honest when he indicated in April that the Mavs weren't interested in acquiring Shaq this off-season.

Of dancing and home runs

Since this is the Mavericks' blog, we have to make sure to allude to at least something basketball related, so we'll tell you that James Singleton, the Mavericks' forward who is playing in the Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game tonight, went 0-for-3 in the home-run contest before the game.

In fact, only one celebrity got the ball as far as deep left field, which meant that Warren Sapp walked off with the "home run'' title with about a 300-foot whack.

It wouldn't have reached the Green Monster at Fenway Park, much less threatening to leave Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.

Meanwhile, owner Mark Cuban also failed to get the ball out of the infield.

But at least they were up their taking their cuts, which takes a certain amount of guts.

Cuban bullish on Orlando

Mark Cuban has watched the NBA Finals unfold and come to the realization that now, more than ever, who you play is every bit as important as how you play.

The Finals resume Sunday night with the Los Angeles Lakers on the verge of the title, up 3-1 against Orlando.

Cuban today is taking part in the eighth annual Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game at Frisco's Dr Pepper Ballpark. He took some time to go over the NBA Finals and believes the Orlando Magic has outplayed the Lakers.

"They just haven't closed it out,'' Cuban said. "I really do think it should be 3-1, Orlando. But that doesn't count. You got to finish out games and Orlando hasn't been able to do that. But for all but two minutes of every game, they've outplayed them and should have beat them.''

Throughout this year's playoffs, Cuban said, the value of playing the right team has shown through.

"The interesting thing is that it shows the importance of matchups,'' he said. "If you play the team you match up well against, you advance. If you happen to have a bad matchup ... we're a bad matchup for the Spurs. Always have been. Then you have Orlando, they struggled with Boston. LA struggled with an undermanned Houston team. I think LA's a good matchup for Orlando. They just haven't been able to get it done.''

And then there was Denver. "It wasn't good for us,'' he said. "But it was easy for LA.''
