Technological Cooperation

Scientific and technological cooperation proves strategic in policy-making. On the one side, it focuses on the undertaking of cooperative research endeavours, especially in  vacant areas, as well as on carrying over the results into the production sector arena. On the other side, it contributes towards consolidating and complementing the national R&D technological and scientific capabilities, thus enabling a sustainable development and facilitating access to information and technologies dissemination.

Through the Dirección de Relaciones Internacionales (Bureau of International Relations) under its jurisdiction, the National Department of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation engages in highly relevant bilateral and multilateral cooperative endeavours with countries worldwide, implemented in the form of cooperative research projects between national and foreign research centers and universities, human resources training programs and interchanges amongst Argentine and foreign specialists in all fields of expertise.

Technological Network

The Red Tecnológica Argentina (Argentine Technological Network) articulated by the Cancillería Argentina (Nacional Department of Foreign Affairs) pools both public and private institutions committed with science and technology promotion and deployment
while additionally fostering new scopes for innovation as well as goods and services technological breakthroughs, with a view to enhancing Argentine businesses and institutions competitiveness in overseas markets.

Furthermore, it takes care of propelling such scientific and technological development as may contribute towards the production of internationally competitive goods and services.

Its prime goal lies in forging bonds between scientific/technological institutions and the production sector by means of locally set-up businesses and exporters groups.

Scientific cooperation and promotion
The National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion encourages the signature of cooperation agreements with national agencies, provincial and municipal governments and, ultimately, businesses and foundations committed with the implementation of cooperative actions leading to the promotion of scientific and technological research and innovation.

The Agency furthermore adheres to national and international agreements with universities, public agencies, businesses, associations, etc., which may pave the way for the development of projects focusing on building further Science and Technology expertise.

SciELO
The Scientific Electronic Library Online – SciELO is an e-library enabling the access to full versions of selected collections of scientific journals.

Devised as a region-wide project, its execution in Argentina is managed by the  Argentine Center of Scientific and Technological Information (CAICYT), an entity under the jurisdiction of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET).

The SciELO Project was born out of an undertaking by BIREME, in turn funded by The State of  São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and additionally endorsed since 2002 by the Brazilian CNPq (Nacional Council for Scientific and Technological Development). It pursues the development of a common methodology for the drafting, storage, dissemination and assessment of scientific e-literature.

It is therefore engaged in digitalizing major scientific journals from all fields of expertise as well as in increasing the visibility of the local scientific output, thus contributing to overcoming the so-called “lost science”, while additionally facilitating its being both globally and directly accessible to larger numbers of users.

The inclusion of further countries in the SciELO Project will allow the building of a regional library counting previously assessed scientific journals and the development of an up-to-date scientific information network.

The www.scielo.org website links to all SciELO sites and enables searches at either the entire SciELO collection or at specific collection levels.
