Bernie Mac

2003 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actor, The Bernie Mac Show

Bernie Mac (born Bernard Jeffrey McCollough, October 5, 1958) is an American actor and comedian.

Bernie Mac started his career as a stand-up comedian in Chicago and won the Miller Lite Comedy Search in 1990.

Bernie Mac began acting in minor roles, but his big break came as Pastor Clever in the 1995 film, Friday. Bernie Mac was also one of the few African-American comedic actors to be able to break out of the traditional "black comedy" genre, having roles in the remake of Ocean's Eleven and becoming the new Bosley for the Charlie's Angels sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

In 1997, he began touring the country as one of the Kings of Comedy, along with Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and D.L. Hughley. The comedy act would later be featured in the film The Original Kings of Comedy, by Spike Lee.

In 2001, the Fox Network gave Bernie Mac his own prime-time television show called The Bernie Mac Show, and in 2004, he had his first starring role in Mr. 3000, where he played a retired baseball player.

Bernie Mac is nominated for 2003's Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on "The Bernie Mac Show".
