UEFA EURO 2008 has been one of the most exciting tournaments of
recent times, with plenty of superb goals, brilliant individual
performances and stunning comebacks. Now
FIFA.com
wants to know who you think will have the
determination and the quality to reach the semi-finals.
Group B winners Croatia face Turkey in the last eight, and it
will be fascinating to see whether the admirable fighting spirit of
Fatih Terim's comeback kings will allow them to make light of
their various absences. The two nations have only met once before
in an international tournament, the Croatians winning by a solitary
Goran Vlaovic goal at EURO 1996.
Just as keenly anticipated will be a repeat of the third-place
play-off at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™, with Germany facing
Portugal in Basel. The Germans ran out 3-1 winners on home turf two
years ago, but they have not been utterly convincing in their last
two matches against Croatia and Austria.
The Netherlands cruised into the quarter-finals, but they can
expect a stern test from either Russia or Sweden. The other ticket
from Group C to the knockout phase is up for grabs, and whoever
clinches it will have to deal with the rampant Spaniards, whose
front pairing of Fernando Torres and David Villa has looked
formidable. Can Romania, France or Italy contain the in-form
marksmen?
So, it's over to you. Share you opinion on which four teams
will reach the EURO 2008 semi-finals with fans from across the
globe, but please remember to keep your comments clean, respectful
and in English.
