The marvelous and majestic Arctic Monkeys scooped two Brit Awards last night for Best British Group and Best British Album for Favourite Worst Nightmare .

Decked out in tweed jackets, plus fours and flat caps; the boys collected their Best British Group awards from Sir Ian McKellen with the words "We are the Arctic Monkeys, we are fantastic".

Yes gentlemen, you certainly are.

Domino is proud to herald the release of 'The Age Of The Understatement' , the debut album by The Last Shadow Puppets on Monday the 21st of April 2008 .

The Last Shadow Puppets are Alex Turner (from Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (from The Rascals), close comrades since Arctic Monkeys toured with Kane's previous group, The Little Flames and inspired by listening to the likes of Scott Walker, early Bowie and David Axelrod, they hatched their adventurous operation.

The maneuvers were recorded at Black Box studios near Nantes, France in only 2 weeks with producer and drummer James Ford scoping out the grand terrain and Owen Pallett conducting the 22 strong battalion of the London Metropolitan Orchestra.

The result; 'The Age Of The Understatement’ , is an album of 12 full-blooded songs, bold and brassy, full of drama, wit and melody, that source the past but avoiding the minefields of pastiche. Both Miles and Alex are 22 and this is a youthful engagement, full of life and the sheer pleasure of music making.

The first firing shot will be the single 'The Age Of The Understatement' , released on Monday the 14th of April .

The delicious sounds and bright chaos of Animal Collective returns to town.

Following the band's tour in Japan in March, they'll be back in Europe in May , book ended by festival appearances starting at the Explosions in the Sky curated ATP in Minehead on 18th May and ending in style at Primavera on 31st May .

The band will be playing UK shows in Glasgow and Leeds and play London's Koko on Thursday 22nd May and this is surely the last chance to see the band in relatively intimate venues. Trust us, if these shows were state side our Yankee friends would be a little blur in the distance.

If you haven't seen Animal Collective before; you might see the odd boffin scratching their head, writing notes trying to decipher the mystical matrix of sonicfreeformelectronichorrorgospelhiphopsoulpop madness (phew) but if you go with the flow, this is the most refreshing, crazy fun you're likely to experience.
