Atlas Sound:
Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel

On Deerhunter's Cryptograms and Fluorescent Grey EP, Bradford Cox helped expertly bring together elements of krautrock, psych, shoegaze, ambient, post-punk, and indie rock; on his Atlas Sound full-length debut he turns inward from that band's high-volume squall. The result is a gauzy bedroom-pop album that drifts from ambient bliss-outs to sadsack avant-garage, from hospitals to heartache, as if passing through different stages of sleep on a sunny afternoon. No previous interest in Deerhunter required. [Marc Hogan]

High Places:
03/07 ? 09/07

We're still waiting on a proper debut from Brooklyn duo High Places, but for now, we couldn't ask for a better gateway into their hypnotic tropical universe than this 10-song compilation of their best work to date-- a concentrated burst of starry pop psychedelia contrasting bass-heavy polyrhythms against glistening astral reverb and singer Mary Pearson's innocent vocals. [Mike Powell]

Los Campesinos!
Hold on Now, Youngster...
With a punk spirit, some self-criticism, and lots of (too much?) shouting, the Welsh band offers a giddy, tuneful love note to individuality, pathos, smarts, silliness, and everything else indie pop built its name on. Broken Social Scene's Dave Newfeld produces.
