The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. Since 1993, The Foundation has raised more than $60 million to fund cancer research grants nationwide. As of October 1, 2006, The V Foundation now awards 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs. The Foundation, which has received a top 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for four consecutive years, awards grants through a competitive awards process strictly supervised by a Scientific Review Committee. Show Your Spirit in the Fight Against Cancer
The Show Your Spirit program is a fun and simple way to join in the fight against cancer. Companies, schools and organizations across the country invite their employees or students to donate $5.00 or more to The V Foundation for the opportunity to wear their favorite teams' apparel to work or school on Show Your Spirit Day.
