Welcome to TNL.net
The personal site of Tristan Louis
Welcome to my little corner on the web. Since 1994, I've been working hard on this site, which has known many different iterations over the
years. It has been both a place for experimentation and a community for my friends. It's been the center of media attention and, at some times, went
back into the darkness as I tuned it.
In its current version, the site hosts
my blog
, in which I write about
technology and try to draw from my experience over the year to help my readers put trends and breaking news in perspective. This is the
extension of an effort I started in the late 1990s, initially as an email newsletter and, over time, as a web-based one.
The site also hosts the popular
Today in History
section, which has
been serving famous people's birthdays and events of note since 1998. It's a portion of the site that has continues to grow over the years and I
treat it like a bonsai, pruning it ever so often and trying to care for it so that it does provide interesting information
Recently, I started providing a new tool for developers called the
UA DB
, which is
a cryptic name that stands for user agents database. That tool fills a need I thought had perviously been met (but it turns out it was not as I
started looking for that type of information) in terms of knowing what browsers were out there. This is important to developers because, if they
want to tailor their website to the optimal experience for whatever device you use (be it PC, phone, or interactive TV), they need that
information. It is there as a free service for anyone to use.
