Introduction
The OxCal program is intended to provide radiocarbon calibration
and analysis of archaeological and environmental stratigraphy. The
program runs under Microsoft Windows on IBM PC compatibles.
The program is easy to install and simple to use for basic
radiocarbon calibration for which results are given both in text and
graphical form.
A variety of different chronological models can be included in the
analysis. The information for such analysis can be entered using the
windows interface or in the form of text command files.
Getting the program
The current version is 3.10. This is for Windows 95,
NT or later versions. Please let
the author
know if there are any problems.
This version can be downloaded from here as a self extracting
file:
oc_3_10r.exe
(~1MB)
Calibration Data Files
In order to prevent the proliferation of different calibration
curve files this program has been designed to work with the files
provided with the
CALIB
(
*.14c
) or the
Groningen
program
(
*.dta
).
The IntCal04 and Marine04 data files are bundled with OxCal
(with the kind permission of the compilers). They can also be
downloaded individually from this site (see
Radiocarbon calibration curves
).
