Kabul (BBC Monitoring) - Afghan President Hamed Karzai has defended the appointment to the new foreign, water and power, and information and culture ministers and said he was confident that all of them had the right qualifications for the job.
Responding to critical remarks about the ministers in a question-and-answer programme, Karzai conceded that every ministry was "in dire need of reforms" and gave assurances that the government would do its best to meet people's expectations.
