How to Update
To install the IE 5.1 Preview Release Update, you must be running at
least Mac OS X 10.0.3. If you are not, please visit the

you are running Mac OS X 10.0.3 or higher, your Apple Software Update
application within OS X will notify you of this update and walk you
through the process.

- Support for Carbon browser plug-ins, including QuickTime 5.0
- Support for USB mice with scroll wheels and live window resizing
- Stability and Web standards compliance enhancements to the Tasman
rendering engine
- Support for printing on a variety of network and USB printers which
are supported by Mac OS X
- Now, one Mac OS X application package supports the following languages:

Why is this version still a beta release?
Carbonizing applications properly for Mac OS X takes time. In making
Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac Preview Release available to the public,
we adhered closely to Apple's development and release schedule.
When will the final release of Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac OS
X come out?
We have not announced an official date, but we are targeting a summer
release.
When will Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac OS 8 and 9 be available?
We are currently focused on developing the final Mac OS X version of
Internet Explorer 5.1. We will have more to announce regarding our plans
for an Internet Explorer application that runs in Classic mode later
this year.
What changes in features and functionality are there between this
Mac OS X version and Internet Explorer 5 Macintosh Edition?
Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac Preview Release includes the same basic
feature set as IE 5 for Mac (Mac OS 8 and 9), but also includes some
new features to make for a world-class browsing experience. While this
is a preview release, it's important to note that IE 5.1 is a first-class
citizen under Mac OS X with no disadvantage to users.
Has IE 5's new UI adopted Aqua?
Since we have received a lot of positive feedback from customers on
IE 5's great user interface, we have indeed carbonized it and are making
it part of this latest version.
