Pedro Rodriguez

A native of the Canary Islands, Pedro 'Pedrito' Rodriguez looks set for a bright future in Catalonia after making a huge impact for FC Barcelona during the first half of the 2009/10 season. A confident, mobile forward with a knack of being in the right place at the right time, he scored important goals in the 2009 UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

? Left home town of Tenerife to join Barcelona academy in 2004, starting his career in the club's youth sides before graduating to the B team coached by Josep Guardiola and winning promotion from third to second division in 2007/08.

? Made Liga debut as substitute in 4-0 win against Real Murcia CF on 12 January 2008; remained with B team in 2008/09, scoring ten goals in 17 Segunda Division games.

? Made handful of first-team appearances in Barca's treble-winning 2008/09 campaign, including late introduction as substitute (for Andres Iniesta) in UEFA Champions League final.

? Scored his first senior goal for Barca in Spanish Super Cup win at Athletic Club and his second to win UEFA Super Cup against FC Shakhtar Donetsk in Monaco (1-0); on target twice in UEFA Champions League (versus FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Internazionale Milano) while spectacular first Liga goal, on 3 October, brought 1-0 victory over UD Almeria.

? Ended 2009 in style by scoring 89th-minute equaliser in FIFA Club World Cup final against Club Estudiantes LP, which Barca went on to win 2-1.

By scoring in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Mexican club Atlante FC, Pedro made history by becoming the first player to score in six different club competitions in the same season, having already found the net in the Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, the Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League.
