Veteran Journalist Thanh Truong Joins WVUE New Orleans

Gray Television Fox affiliate WVUE New Orleans is adding Thanh Truong to its news team.? Truong has experience in television news, both as a news anchor and a reporter.

“I’m thrilled to add someone of Thanh’s caliber to our team,” said WVUE News Director Kristen Palestina. “His knowledge of our viewing area, the people we serve and the unique issues each face will not only improve the quality of our news, but more importantly, benefit our viewers.”

Truong’s journalism career spans more than 20 years; he began his reporting career in New York state then moved to reporting positions in several other cities, including Atlanta, Denver and New Orleans. He also spent four years as a correspondent for NBC News, traveling as far as Afghanistan to report on events and issues related to the war in that country.

Truong and his family came to the U.S. as refugees following the Vietnam War. He has close ties to the sizeable Vietnamese community in the greater New Orleans area that led him back to New Orleans.

He is the recipient of various journalism awards. The most recent came in 2023, when he earned a regional Edward R. Murrow award for “best podcast in a large market” for his work on The Thanh Report .

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Most recently, he wrote, produced, and hosted a weekly podcast focused on the unique stories and people of Southeast Louisiana. Truong also produced and served as co-host of New Orleans Unsolved , a true crime podcast based in New Orleans.

Truong is scheduled to make his debut on WVUE in early June.
