Alexievich u lind ne Stanislav, qytet ne Ukrainen perendimore. Babai i saj ishte nga Bjellorusia ndersa e ema ishte Ukrainase. Vete ajo u rrit ne Ukraine.

Libri i saj i pare War's Unwomanly Face u publikua ne vitin 1985. Ky liber u printua ne menyre te vazhdueshme dhe u shit ne me shume se dy milion kopje. Duke qene se librat e saj u perkthyen kryesisht ne Bjellorusisht, ajo ishte me e njohur ne kete vend.
