Mutsu
Provinces, it was sometimes called
Rikush?
(
陸州
)
. The history of the province started in 1868 and ended in 1872.
Pine covered islands at Matsushima in Rikuzen Province
in 1868, Rikuaen was
separated
from Mutsu.
In the
Meiji period
, the provinces of Japan were converted into prefectures. Maps of Japan and Rikuzen Province were
reformed
in the 1870s.
