Rikuzen Province ( 陸前? , Rikuzen-no kuni ) is an old province of Japan in the area of Miyagi Prefecture and Iwate Prefecture on the island of Honsh? . [1] Along with Rikuch? and Mutsu Provinces, it was sometimes called Rikush? ( 陸州 ) . The history of the province started in 1868 and ended in 1872.

in 1868, Rikuaen was separated from Mutsu.

In the Meiji period , the provinces of Japan were converted into prefectures. Maps of Japan and Rikuzen Province were reformed in the 1870s. [2]
