The
Prime Minister of Egypt
is the head of the Egyptian government. The prime minister heads the
cabinet
, which in turn plays a leading role in shaping the agenda of the houses of Parliament. It may propose laws to Parliament as well as amendments during parliamentary meetings.
In the late 1970s, Egypt had several cohabitation governments which proved to be unstable, due to the struggle arising between the
president
and the prime minister.
As of May 2024, there are four living former Prime Ministers of Egypt, as seen below.
The most recent Prime Minister to die was
Sherif Ismail
, on 4 February 2023, aged 67.
