Jade Ewen (born 24 January 1988) is a British singer and actress . She is best known for performing the United Kingdom 's Eurovision 2009 entry "It's My Time" and also being a member of the Sugababes .

She started her career when she got the role as Nala in the West End production of The Lion King , she has then been seen in many TV-series in both the United Kingdom and Australia . In 2005 she joined R&B group Trinity Stone which reached moderate success in the UK, Ireland and Russia . In early 2009 she was selected by Andrew Lloyd Webber to participate in the UK national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "It's My Time". ^[1] The song finished fifth. From 2009 to 2011, Ewen was a member of the girl group Sugababes .

Ewen was born in Plaistow, Newham , London to a Jamaican mother and Scottish - Sicilian father.
