Hurricane Gustav was one of 16 named storms, one of seven hurricanes, and one of five major hurricanes in the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season . Hurricane Gustav form on August 25, made landfall in three countries, Haiti , Cuba , and the United States , the storm died on September 4. Gustav caused about $6.61 Billion in damage, also 112 direct and 41 indirect deaths.

In the spring of 2009 the name Gustav was retired, it was replaced by Gonzalo in 2014. ^[1]
