When he was 28, he played someone accused of murder in the movie , Primal Fear (movie) and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor . In 1997, Norton starred in the movie American History X and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor . In 1998, Norton played a character in the Matt Damon movie Rounders about poker . In 1999, Norton co-starred with Brad Pitt in the movie Fight Club . In 2000, Norton wrote the screenplay for a movie called Keeping the Faith .
