Americus is a city in Sumter County , Georgia , United States. As of the 2020 census , the city had a population of 16,230. [1] Americus is the home of Habitat for Humanity 's international headquarters, a humanitarian house building institute built by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter . [2] Glover Foods and many more well-known organizations.

The city is the county seat of Sumter County. [3]
