Update: With the crowdfunding campaign for Arkadi and the Lost Titan now live, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of this epic graphic novel. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below ( warning: some NSFW imagery included!):

“In Arkadi’s world, I explore a sci-fi notion that's been seldom exploited elsewhere: the Earth revolves around the sun, but always presents the same face to it. It's not just a setting, it's a real-world problem: the Earth in the (not so) distant future," Caza tells IGN. "So I’ve tried, firstly, to set up this classic science fiction problem: the Earth has stopped rotating on its axis, but for the characters, it's the most natural thing?they don't realize that it could be otherwise, that “before” it was otherwise. But for the reader, how and why? Secondly, I wanted the characters (and readers) to understand that, in this state, the Earth is dying. Slowly, of course, but inevitably. And in thirdly, I raise the inevitable question: 'What can we do about it?' - i.e. ‘Save the World!’ A whole science-fiction narrative: mankind faced with a cosmic problem.”

Arkadi and the Lost Titan (or Le monde d'Arkadi) is one of the most beloved French graphic novels ever published, standing alongside giants like The Incal. Despite that, it's never been printed in English. That's finally changing in 2024, as Humanoids finally brings this seminal work to US readers.

Arkadi and the Lost Titan is the focus of Humanoids' first-ever Kickstarter campaign, one timed to both the publisher's 50th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of the release of Arkadi: Book 1. Humanoids will release Arkadi and the Lost Titan as a 528-page omnibus, with the artwork fully restored and remastered. Check out the book's cover below:

Arkadi and the Lost Titan was created by Philippe Cazaumayou, better known by his penname Caza. The series is set in the far future, when Earth has stopped rotating and most of the planet is trapped in either freezing night or blistering, neverending sunlight. In this hellish landscape, a young warrior named Arkadi embarks on his Trial of Purification, only to discover a world much bigger and more compelling than he could have ever imagined.

“Arkadi and the Lost Titan is Caza’s longest and most complete work and it’s a thrill to introduce this seminal work to a wider audience in the States,” said Humanoids Publisher Fabrice Giger in a statement. “This wide-ranging saga has been stuck in purgatory for decades for technical reasons, but through a process of thoughtful and painstaking restoration, the original negative films have been salvaged and are currently undergoing a scanning and digitization process, allowing the release of this magnum opus in its entirety, and the way it was meant to be experienced.”

The Kickstarter campaign for Arkadi features both standard and deluxe editions of the book, with higher pledge tiers including bonuses like art prints (including one signed by Caza himself). You can check out the campaign's prelaunch page to learn more and sign up to be notified when it goes live.

Elsewhere in the world of comics, the Avengers and Ultraman are crossing over , and Wolverine: Revenge features a truly killer creative team .
