John Cale (født 9. mars 1942 ) er en britisk musiker, og var sammen med Lou Reed en av hovedmennene i rockegruppen Velvet Underground . Cale, som har klassisk skolering, var kanskje en av de viktigste bidragsyterne til Velvet Undergrounds tidlige eksperimentelle lydbilde. Cale forlot bandet etter albumet White Light/White Heat , og har siden gitt ut en rekke soloalbum og samarbeidsprosjekter bade innen rock og klassisk musikk.

I 2003 gav han ut sitt første soloalbum pa syv ar, Hobosapiens , som hadde sterke innslag av moderne elektronisk musikk. To ar senere, i 2005 gav han ut oppfølgeren Black:Acetate som musikalsk sett fortsatte i noe samme sporet som forgjengeren. 1. oktober 2012 kom studioalbumet Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood.

Cale ble i dronningens fødselsdagsliste for 2010 utnevnt til medlem av Order of the British Empire for fortjenester av musikk og kunst. [59]
