Antonio Luis Santos da Costa (fødd 17. juli 1961 ) er ein portugisisk jurist og politikar for Partido Socialista . I november 2015 vart han utnemnd til den 119. statsministeren i Portugal . Costa trekte seg som statsminister den 7. november 2023, etter at hans eigen stabssjef og fire andre statstenestemenn, vart pagripne etter mistanke om korrupsjon. Ei eiga sak vart oppretta mot Costa. ^[1]^[2]^[3]

Costa vart sitjande som leiar for eit forretningsministerium etter a ha levert inn ein søknad om fa ga av. Presidenten i landet fremja forslag til nyval i Portugal den 10. mars 2024. ^[4]

Bestefaren til Costa vart fødd i Goa i India , og faren hans budde store delar av livet sitt der. ^[5]^[6] Faren var ein ivrig sosialist. Costa er utdanna jurist. ^[7]

Politisk karriere [ endre | endre wikiteksten ]

Costa har vore minister i fleire portugisiske regjeringar, sist gong i regjeringa til Jose Socrates . ^[8]^[9] Han var innanriksminister fra 2005 til 2007. ^[7] Han vart vald til leiaren for sosialistpartiet i november 2014 etter at den daverande leiaren vart pagripen etter mistanke om korrupsjon. ^[10]

Fra 2007 til 2015 var Costa ordførar i Lisboa , og vart i 2013 attvald til ein ny periode. Som ordførar i Lisboa tok han i 2010 til orde for ei eiga avgift for turistar; alle tilreisande skulle ifylgje planen betala ein euro ved framkomst og 1,90 euro for kvar natt i byen. ^[11] Etter valet i 2010 flytta han ordførarkontoret fra det storslatte radhuset til den fattige, innvandrardominerte bydelen Mouraria. ^[12] I april 2015 gjekk Costa av som ordførar for a arbeida med det komande valet og ambisjonen om a verta statsminister. ^[13]

I 2015 vart Costa statsminister etter at alliansen hans med miljøpartiet og ytre venstreparti felte den konservative regjeringa til Pedro Passos Coelho berre 11 dagar etter parlamentsvalet. ^[14] Alliansen til Costa ville stansa dei stramme budsjetta og privatiseringa av den offentlege verksemda etter statsgjeldskrisa fra 2010. ^[15]^[16] Costa klandra den avgadde regjeringa for a vanskjøtta offentlege tenester og for a tvinga portugisarar til a søkja arbeid utanlands. ^[17]
