1.20wmf6 deployment moved to Monday, July 2
by Rob Lanphier
Hi everyone, Due to the upcoming July 4 U.S. holiday falling on a Wednesday, we'd like to deploy 1.20wmf6 to all *.wikipedia.org projects on Monday, July 2 (normally, we'd just do
en.wikipedia.org
). The deployments have been pretty uneventful, and we're not expecting anything different this time around, but I'm getting the word out in an abundance of caution. Details and status of the rollout can be found here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.20/Roadmap
I've put a notice on a smattering of Wikipedia Village Pumps. If you feel this is noteworthy for your language's editing community and would like to help spread the word, please help translate the notices below, or post a new one to your local language's wiki. Thanks Rob

Re: [Wikitech-ambassadors] Invitation for Localisation team development demonstration 2012-06-26 15:00 UTC
by Siebrand Mazeland (WMF)
Apparently it's hard for me to get both dates and times right in the same mail. Apologies for the incorrect date in the subject. This demo is in 15 minutes. MediaWiki 1.20wmf5 deployed to test, test2, and mediawiki.org
by Rob Lanphier
Hi everyone, No promises that I'll be sending this email every two weeks, but I thought it would be good to send this at least now. The regular cycle of MediaWiki deployments to Wikimedia websites continues. 1.20wmf5 has been deployed to the following wikis: *
https://test.wikipedia.org
*
https://test2.wikipedia.org
*
https://www.mediawiki.org
A lightly processed changelog is available here:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.20/wmf5
Deployments will continue through June 20. Based on my initial skim, nothing in this deployment stands out as something that requires a special notification or extra attention, but please feel free to add a "Highlights" section to the top of the changelog with the items that strike you as newsworthy. Thanks Rob

WMF-Openhatch.org community testing event 9 June
by Chris McMahon
The Wikimedia Foundation has been creating a new Article Feedback system, and on Saturday 9 June from 10AM-noon Pacific time, WMF invites testers and anyone else interested to participate in a "shakedown cruise" to test a near-final version of the new Article Feedback system before the system is rolled out to all of Wikipedia. Following on May's successful test event with Weekend Testing Americas, WMF is teaming up with the Open Source fans at
OpenHatch.org
for this event. I am hoping that having experienced exploratory testers plus people interested in improving Wikipedia articles will be a killer combination of expertise and interest to shake out any final issues in this critical aspect of the Wikipedia experience.
