Wikimedia Foundation wants to chase and resolve all input method editor (IME) bugs on VisualEditor for Japanese language. These bugs occurs when you type something, and the result is not the same as you expected (character moved, incomplete links, style not applied or changed...). This bug hunt is
reported on Phabricator as task T109818
.

Please note these important points:
- VisualEditor has several bugs on IE9 and IE10, and there are no plans of support for IE8 and earlier IE.
We know
typing at the end of links is broken, and this is not an IME bug.
Typing before an annotation at the start of a paragraph is also broken, and not an IME bug.

When you find a bug, please try to reproduce it. Sometimes, it appears only once.
Try to do the same into a paragraph (at start/middle/end/into empty paragraph), into a bold or italic (at start/middle/end/into empty annotation), and with regular text immediately after bold or italic.
Please report the keys you pressed on your keyboard.

Sorry for not using Bugs table.
Firefox(42.0) on Windows10, browser crashed.
- How to reproduce
- Edit a page with VE, then move your cursor
just before a template or a ref tag
.
- Enter a specific word using
r?maji
input. For example, かんじ ( press
kanji
).
- The browser crashes when
J
key is pressed.
Here are other words that cause same problem ( probably many words cause ).
- さんが ( sanga )
- けんさ ( kensa )
- もんだ ( monda )
- Additional information
- There are several ways of the typing to input かんじ,
kanji

kannji
/
kan'ji
.
- kannji
and
kan'ji
do not cause any problem.
- Other browsers
- Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer 11 (I know these browsers are not supported officially, just for information) and Firefox on Windows XP
- The browser does not crash, but Japanese input terminates.
- Google Chrome
- Any problem does not occur.
I'm using Microsoft IME, I have no idea about other IMEs like
Google 日本語入力
,
ATOK
and so on.--

Windows10 の Firefox 42.0でブラウザがクラッシュします。再現方法は、
- VEを起動し、カ?ソルを
テンプレ?トまたはrefタグの直前に
移動させます。
- 特定の言葉、例えば「かんじ（kanjiと入力）」をロ?マ字入力で打ちます。
- Jキ?を押したところでブラウザがクラッシュします。
他にも「ん」と絡む言葉では問題が?生するようです。また、kannji と n を重ねたり、「ん」を入力する際に n' と入力すると問題は?生しません。Chromeではこのような問題は?生せず、Edge/IE11/Firefox(on XP) ではクラッシュまではしませんが、入力が途中で終了します。私はMicrosoft IMEを使っていますので、Google 日本語入力やATOKなど他のIMEでも起こるかはわかりません。--

- After some investigations, it appears that
it is not possible to reproduce this bug
. Can you try it again? Do you know other users who can try it too?
- For information, this bug is the last bug we know which may block visual editor deployment on Japanese Wikipedia.
