?? Overview

This majestic felid is one of the largest members of it's family. The orange-reddish coat has highly distinct vertical stripes along the shoulders and flanks. Stripes are also present on the face, neck and limbs. The pelage on the venter and medial aspects of the limbs is white. A characteristic white spot is found behind each ear.

Bengal, isolated pockets throughout India, best seen at Ranthambhor NP (Rajasthan) and Bandhavgarh NP (Madhya Pradesh).

Distribution In Assam

Also found in Guwahati. It is found in many of the protected areas including Kaziranga NP, Manas NP, Nameri NP, Dibru-Saikhowa WLS, Bornadi WLS, Chakrashila WLS and Garampani WLS.
