Bilbaon Guggenheim-museo on Solomon R. Guggenheimin saation yllapitama modernin taiteen museo Bilbaon kaupungissa Espanjan Baskimaalla . Se avattiin vuonna 1997.

Museorakennuksen on suunnitellut kanadalais-yhdysvaltalainen arkkitehti Frank Gehry . Se sijaitsee Nervionjoen rannalla 16 metria kaupungin yleista katutasoa alempana. Yksi rakennuksen sivuista on joen suuntainen, toinen lahes nojaa La Salve -siltaan. Museon ulkomuoto on erikoinen: sen seinat on paallystetty puolen millimetrin paksuisilla titaanilevyilla ja muodot ovat joustavia seka kaarevia. Museo on suunniteltu kokonaan tietokoneella, silla lujuuslaskelmia ei olisi voitu tehda perinteisilla menetelmilla.

Museo kiinnitti heti avautuessaan suurta kansainvalista huomiota. Nykyaan se on yksi Bilbaon tarkeimmista nahtavyyksista. Museon taidekokoelma koostuu Guggenheim-saation teoksista, jotka tarjoavat laajan katsauksen 1900-luvun kuvataiteeseen .

Tutkimusten mukaan museo toi viiden ensimmaisen toimintavuotensa aikana Baskimaahan yli miljardi dollaria, enemman kuin kymmenen kertaa museon rakennuskustannukset, seka yli 190 miljoonaa dollaria paikallisina verotuottoina. Vuonna 2010 museo toi tuloja lahes 300 miljoonaa dollaria. Guggenheim Bilbaosta tuli toimintamalli monille muille talousvaikeuksissa kamppaileville kaupungeille. [2]

Vaikka soveltuvuustutkimuksia Guggenheimin kanssa on viime aikoina tehty eri puolilla maailmaa, vain yksi niista, vuonna 2013 valmistunut Guggenheim Abu Dhabi , on toteutunut. [2] Guggenheim-projektien ongelmana on pidetty sita, etta niin sanottu Bilbao-efekti (suuren kansainvalisen huomion saaminen heti avautuessa) on ollut vaikeasti toistettavissa. [3]
