, west-central

. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the
Polish local government reforms
passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and only town is
Wolsztyn
, which lies 63 kilometres (39 mi) south-west of the regional capital
Pozna?
.
The county covers an area of 680.03 square kilometres (262.6 sq mi). As of 2006 its total population is 54,718, out of which the population of Wolsztyn is 13,557 and the rural population is 41,161.
