History [ edit ]

After the 1941 enactment of the North American Regional Broadcasting Agreement , WDSU -AM moved to 1280 kHz. In 1949, it added an FM station, WDSU-FM (now 93.3 WQUE-FM).

Around 1971-1972, the radio stations were sold, and the AM became WGSO with an adult contemporary format.

Around 1984, WQUE-AM, as "Stereo 13Q" , and WQUE-FM, as "Q93" , switched to a Top 40 / CHR format under a WQUE simulcast. [2] [3]

In 1992, they evolved to its current format, which they continue with. WQUE is one of the most popular stations among African-American youth in the New Orleans area. From 2006 to 2014, it was the home of the Steve Harvey Morning Show, which now airs on sister WYLD-FM (which formerly aired Tom Joyner ). In January 2014, it became the home of The Breakfast Club .
