Feel free to do so . You will need to copy the content to Template:Forts in Maharashtra . Regards, Ganeshk ( talk ) 06:48, 4 November 2007 (UTC) [ reply ]
Now there is a new template - Template:MarathaEmpire - have a look. Does it serve the purpose? - P.K.Niyogi ( talk ) 22:57, 17 December 2007 (UTC) [ reply ]

Too bulky? [ edit ]

I feel that this template is getting too big and might not be useful for navigation. Should the contents be further divided (for e.g. by state)? -- Belasd ( talk ) 20:18, 1 March 2009 (UTC) [ reply ]

I modified this one to group them by dynasty of builders or major occupiers as this would be more informative. I also made an alternative grouping based on state which can be seen here . I did not use it because several states like Maharashtra , Tamil Nadu , Rajasthan , Karnataka have their own navigation templates which means that statewise grouping in this template would have made them redundant. -- Belasd ( talk ) 03:52, 2 March 2009 (UTC) [ reply ]

Organization [ edit ]

This template classifies the forts inconsistently - some of them by the dynasty, some of them by the kingdom (which may have been ruled by multiple dynasties as is the case with the Vijayanagara empire), some of them by social group (e.g. Jat/Rajput) etc. In addition to the inconsistency, this classification is not very helpful as a fort may have been controlled by multiple dynasties / kingdoms. Classifying by the dynasty that established the fort would not be fruitful, as the date of establishment of several forts is uncertain. This list would be better organized by location (e.g. state / territory). utcursch | talk 18:12, 24 October 2023 (UTC) [ reply ]
