Police recruited a mob and didn't stop violence [ edit ]

Here Demiurge1000 removed this line:

Biloxi police recruited a mob of white citizens and took no action to prevent their violence against protesters.

with the edit summary "not in source cited" . The source says explicitly:

But this was different from the wade-in of 1960, when police recruited a mob and stood watch while the protesters were beaten.

Against a single source, which itself depends on primary sources from the people involved, that doesn't mean much. It's also got a problem with WP:PARAPHRASE . -- Demiurge1000 ( talk ) 00:49, 25 January 2014 (UTC) [ reply ]
That's kind of the very definition of a reliable secondary source, isn't it? It's a newspaper article subject to editorial control which relies on primary sources. There you go. I don't know what to say about your mention of paraphrase other than that I disagree and you're welcome to bring more eyes to bear on the issue if you'd like.? alf laylah wa laylah ( talk ) 00:57, 25 January 2014 (UTC) [ reply ]

Proposed renaming [ edit ]

Does anyone have any problem renaming it Bloody Biloxi Wade-in? That's really (the second wade-in) the focus of attention. deisenbe ( talk ) 16:24, 31 January 2019 (UTC) [ reply ]

Most of the reliable sources I've encountered use Biloxi wade-in. What sources are you relying upon for bloody Biloxi wade-in? Mitchumch ( talk ) 19:43, 31 January 2019 (UTC) [ reply ]
Oppose ? The article, as written, covers a series of protests, not a singular event. The present title also corresponds with the Historical Marker prepared by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History . Woodlot ( talk ) 12:44, 1 February 2019 (UTC) [ reply ]
