In 1985,
Walter Kovacs
? the violent vigilante known as Rorschach ? is killed while attempting to expose teammate
Ozymandias
as the mastermind behind the "Squid" ? a mutated organism that kills half of the population of New York and inspires a tentative world peace. Thirty-five years later, Rorschach is the basis of many right-wing conspiracy theories involving U.S. President
Robert Redford
, superheroes and an imminent alien invasion. An unnamed homicide detective investigates the crimes committed by Wil Myerson, a radicalised comic book artist who assumed the Rorschach mantle and was killed during the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate.
