. It is the first part of any formal composition (
Krithi
) which has three segments ? Pallavi, Anupallavi and Charanam (which can be one or more). Pallavi is usually also an abbreviation of
Ragam Thanam Pallavi
. It is considered as the opening verse of Varnam.
