Kollam Pooram ( Malayalam : ?????? ????) is a ten-day festival held every year in April in Kollam City in the Indian state of Kerala . The festival attracts a large number of people from all parts of the state and is organised in connection with the annual festival of the Asramam Sree Krishna Swamy Temple at Kollam's Asramam Maidan . [1] The festival has now assumed the status of a national festival attracting tourists in large numbers.

For the kudamattom , thirty elephants are split into two groups of fifteen representing the Thamarakulam Sri Mahaganapathy Temple and the Puthiyakavu Bhagawathy Temple. The kudamattom is held to the beats of a traditional melam . The pooram is followed by a firework display. [2]
