Alva Edison Liles (March 6, 1956 ? January 7, 1998) was an American football defensive lineman who played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders .

Early life and education [ edit ]

Liles was a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma . [1] He played football at Sacramento High School in Sacramento, California , graduating in 1974. [1] He played college football at Boise State University , as an offensive guard. [1]

Career [ edit ]

Liles played with the now-defunct Sacramento Buffalos, before going on to play in the NFL. [1] He played with the Detroit Lions , the Oakland Raiders , the New York Jets , and the Washington Redskins . [1] He was a member of the Oakland Raiders team that won Super Bowl XV . [ citation needed ]

Following his career in the NFL, he was a defensive end for the Oakland Invaders of the United States Football League (USFL). [1]
