One of the biggest outcomes of this World Health Assembly has been the approval of the International Health Regulations. The International Health Regulations were first approved in 2005, and they are like international law which all countries need to follow in terms of epidemics and pandemics. So, now there were some amendments proposed after the COVID pandemic, and more than 300 amendments were proposed by various countries... Finally, on 1st (June), the IHR was concluded, which was a big achievement... India's contribution in that sense was good, getting the people together. Since we are respected by the global south and global north, I think we play a good mediatory role

Delhi Excise Scam: ED alleges Kavitha destroyed the digital evidence, reported Times Now

BRS Leader K Kavitha's judicial custody extended till July 3. The ED and the CBI had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority's approval. The beneficiaries diverted "illegal" gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection, the probe agencies said.

As per the allegations, the Excise Department had decided to refund the earnest money deposit of about Rs 30 crore to a successful tenderer against the set rules. Even though there was no enabling provision, a waiver on tendered licence fees was allowed from December 28, 2021, to January 27, 2022, due to COVID-19, the probe agency said and there was an alleged loss of Rs 144.36 crore to the exchequer.

Delhi Excise Policy Scam News Live Updates: BRS Leader K Kavitha's judicial custody extended till July 3

India's May factory growth slipped to 3-month low but remained sturdy, PMI shows

India's manufacturing growth slowed to a three-month low in May as a heatwave prompted some companies to reduce working hours, but factory activity remained robust overall, bolstered by strong international sales, a business survey showed on Monday.

Asia's third-largest economy often sees high temperatures during May and they soared above 50 degrees Celsius (122°F) in some northern and western regions last month.

The HSBC final India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, compiled by S&P Global, dipped to 57.5 in May from April's 58.8, below a preliminary estimate of 58.4.

Despite softening, the index remained above its long-run average and has been above the 50-mark separating contraction from expansion for almost three years.

Mediators press Israel, Hamas to agree to truce proposal: AFP

Fresh strikes were reported across the Gaza Strip overnight into Monday, as mediators urged Israel and Hamas to agree to a truce and hostage release deal outlined by US President Joe Biden. Since Biden spoke at the White House on Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted Israel will pursue the war -- now nearing its ninth month -- until it has destroyed Hamas and freed the captives taken during the Palestinian militant group's unprecedented October 7 attack.

Hamas has said it "views positively" what Biden described as an Israeli proposal.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant to discuss the deal, the State Department said in a pair of statements Sunday night.
