Description

I had arrived in Seoul in the dying days of summer; now it is almost Christmas. Despite being sick and tired of some current events, I am trying to put some nice finishing touches to my Seoul experience.

This is a good place to do it. Lotte World Adventure, part of the Lotte World complex in Jamsil. This is the largest indoor amusement park in the world, and looks quite nice with the Christmas lighting. Although a full ticket with unlimited use of rides and attractions would have set me back \35,000, I am visiting on a late-night admissions-only ticket that is a mere \10,000.

Here is a show put on for the visitors: a version of Cinderella, where the magic fairy is replaced by Santa Claus.

While every culture has its own Cinderella story, and the Koreans have their own (where the glass shoe is replaced by a wooden clog), this is the standard European Cinderella.

The Christmas carols are sung in Korean and English. Spoken lines are prerecorded Korean, which the cast, many of them made up of Caucasians, do a nice job of lip synching.
